The 2018 Electric Guard Dog Annual Meeting was held at the Hilton Columbia Center this November, and was followed by a night of fun and camaraderie at The Grand in Columbia, SC. More than 100 staff members from across the country gathered to recap the year’s accomplishments (and boy were they big!) and to plan for next year’s goals.
So, how do you prep for next year’s goals when this year’s accomplishments were so big? By thinking bigger than ever before! This year’s theme—Think to the Power of Infinity!
Kicking things off and introducing our theme was Mike Dorrington, VP of Sales and Marketing, who encouraged excitement for the day’s events. He energized the crowd with a fun, electrifying demonstration that’s becoming a much-anticipated experience for EGD gatherings—forming a human chain to touch the electrified fence!
The fun start was followed by presentations from every department to present the year’s big challenges, success stories and accomplishments, both professional and personal.
CEO, Mark Wesley, gave us the Year in Review with 2018’s highlights, and recognized employees who’ve been with EGD from the beginning more than two decades ago, to those starting employment that very day. Mark made the announcement of rolling out 401k matching and introduced new services being developed for 2019—both exciting announcements that challenge further excellence.
Before breaking into smaller training sessions, we heard the State-of-the-Company address from John Kenney, our Chairman, who took us down memory lane through the company’s past journey and shed light on where we go from here.
Our night of fun at The Grand brought together staff who communicate often but not usually in person. Our national and local techs and reps got to know each other a little better through some friendly competition in bowling, Jenga, corn hole and more! We shared stories and appetizers, gave advice and high-fives. We took selfies and made memories that will stay with us.
All in all, we managed to leave this year’s annual meeting with more knowledge, more friends, and more appreciation about what makes Electric Guard Dog so amazing. When everyone’s voice is valued and all are encouraged and challenged to think bigger than ever before, we realize that it’s not just a great place to work—it’s a great place to grow. We look forward to Thinking to the Power of Infinity!
